Harvest time: It requires 2 or 3 picks starting from the fourth week of June.

Tree characteristic: It grows semi-vertically and very rapidly. It is the earliest of pear varieties and very productive.
Fruit characteristic: Fruit is medium-sized and rosy on green background. Fruit flesh which is juicy, sweet and aromatic is yellow and slightly gritty.

AKÇA

Origin: Anatolia

Harvest time: It is harvested as from the third week of June.

Tree characteristic: Trees are of moderate vigour and grow semi-vertically. It has a Spur tree structure. It has thorny branches. It is better to graft it to quince and clone rootstocks as it bears fruit in pear seedling late. It is well compatible with a quince rootstock.
Fruit characteristic: The fruit is conical and of medium size. Fruit skin is yellow coloured on green background. Fruit flesh is greenish white, juicy and aromatic. It has a slightly gritty structure.

ETRUSCA

Origin: Italy

Harvest time: First week of July.

Tree characteristic: It is an early-ripening variety of which trees are semi-vertical and form a large crown and has a structure growing vigorously.
Fruit characteristic: It is an early-ripening variety with medium-sized fruits. Skin colour is yellowish green. It shows redness at a rate of 50-60 percent and this increases its market value. Even if it is a variety which is launched fresh in the market, it has a long shelf life.

Harvest time: As from the third week of August.

Tree characteristic: Trees grow semi-vertically and rapidly. It is a productive variety and quite widespread in our country.
Fruit characteristic: Fruit is big and conical in shape. Fruit skin colour is rosy on light green background. It has a yellow colour when it ripens in a cold store. Fruit flesh is white, juicy and of moderate flavour.

Fruit characteristic: Fruit is medium-sized; its skin is thin and smooth, strong, juicy, sugary, aromatic and very savoury. It is sensitive to black spot disease.

WILLIAMS

Harvest time: As from the third week of August.

Tree characteristic: Tree grows vertically when young and growth slows down and tree starts to get more expansive when it starts yielding fruits. It adapts to a conventional pear tree well.
Fruit characteristic: Fruit is of medium – big size, conical, long-necked and large in the middle section. Fruit skin is light green and thin, rusty around the stem pit. It grows yellow as it ripens. Fruit flesh is white, fine-textured, butter type, very juicy, sweet and aromatic and has an excellent quality. It is used for table, drying and canning.

HOSUI (NASHI)

Harvest time: Second week of August

Tree characteristic: As it is a spur variety of moderate vigour which grows vertically, it is suitable for close planting. It is recommended for all regions where pear is grown. It is resistant to Erwenia (fire blight) disease. As it is a variety which is so productive, it requires fruit thinning.
Fruit characteristic: It is a medium-sized fruit with yellow spots on light brown background and a little rusty. It is long-stemmed, depressed and pot-bellied. Fruit flesh is white, very juicy and marvellously aromatic and savoury. It may be stored in cold store for a long time.

DEVECI

Harvest time: It may be harvested after the first week of October.

Tree characteristic: It grows wide with moderate vigour. It is a variety sensitive to Erwinia (fire blight) disease.
Fruit characteristic: Fruit is so big and depressed and quite large towards the bottom. Skin colour is rosy on yellow-green background. Fruit flesh is white, firm and savoury.
